KINDS OF SENTENCES
Sentence
: A group of words together which makes a complete sense is called sentence.
There are four kinds of sentences in English. They are :-
Assertive (or) Declarative sentences.
Imperative sentences.
Interrogative sentences.
Exclamatory sentences.
Assertive (or) Declarative sentences
:
It is a statement. It is the statement of usual kind.
Example
:
The sun rises in the east.
She went to the temple.
I read the Hindu paper daily.
I went to the party yesterday.
We heard a strange noise.
Imperative sentences:-
An imperative sentence expresses command (or) request.
Example:
Please close the door.
May God bless you.
Get out of the class.
Arrest them.
Show me the way to his house.
Interrogative sentences:-
A (question) which asks question and contains an interrogation mark (?).
Example:
Can I lift this book?
Where do you live?
Will you come tomorrow?
How did you solve this problem?
Exclamatory sentences:-
A sentence which express sudden feeling of sadness, happiness and anger.
Example:-
Alas! She is dead.
Wow! What a flower.
Hurrah! He won the match.
Ouch! Go out.
